A gift that protects Te Matuku Environs — in to the future.
An endowment is one of the most powerful things you can do for conservation. Unlike a one-off donation, an endowment creates a permanent fund whose investment returns support Pouteria's work in perpetuity — long after we are all gone.
Conservation is not one and done, vigilance and maintenance are required, long term, to sustain gains. Certainty of funding is critical to underpin long term work plans, so, an endowment is one of the most significant things you can do to support conservation organisations. Unlike a one-off donation, an endowment creates a permanent fund, the investment returns from which would support Pouteria's work in perpetuity — long after we are all gone.
The conservation challenges here are generational. Pest plants and animals don't disappear in a season or a year. An investment fund, generating annual returns, would allow us to keep building on each year's gains, ensuring our efforts are not wasted.
"What is in the best long term interests of the land?"
An endowment answers our guiding question in the most enduring way possible.
How to make an endowment
Endowments can be structured in a number of ways — a lump sum contribution, a bequest in your will, or a pledged gift over time. As a registered charity, Pouteria can issue charitable donation certificates for endowment contributions. A tax credit may be available.
